So Here is my story.......
Growing up in a small rural town, I always had pets. I grew up with fish, cats, birds, pigs, goats, ducks, dogs, etc. Although I had vast experience with different pets... I have to admit I was never a fan of cats. In my opinion cats were solitary creatures with horrible temperaments that threw up hairballs, scratch everything in sight and left hair everywhere they went. On top of my many reasons for not liking cats, they also gave me terrible allergies!
Fast-forward 25 years....
I moved to beautiful Sunny San Diego, California. I was a single gal living in the heart of downtown with a demanding career and I felt...terribly lonely. I needed a companion but I didn’t have the space or the time needed for a dog. Like most people, I first came across the sphynx breed when I saw the movie "Austin Powers." I was bewildered, a cat with no hair...and they look so weird yet they seem so very soft...I was hooked. I researched and researched and came across a classified ad posting Sphynx cats for sale. I read, read and read. Could it possibly be true! A Cat that is affectionate, active, smart, and hairless. I had to meet these cats. So I set out to find my perfect companion.
Then I met CAIRO...
It was love at first sight. The breeder showed me several kitten but one very special kitten chose me! The kitten, Cairo, was so soft, affectionate, beautiful, he had my heart from the very first moment. He was perfect. I went through the adoption process, saved my money and prepared my home for his arrival. When we arrived home, it took him less than two minutes to find his favorite spot...my bed. He ran, bounced, climbed and became airborne on my bed.
We became a great team, I would get home from work and he was always there to greet me, always happy to see me and made my day 110% better. Cairo always made me laugh and he was a great comfort in my moments of sorrow.
Several months later,
I decided it was time for Cairo to have a companion. So I searched far and wide for the perfect girl. I visited a couple of breeders and unfortunately I could no believe the conditions in which some of these "breeders" keep their cats and kittens. In some cases, the number of cats in these home was unbelievable. They had no breeding schedule, could not produce pedigrees, no HCM scanning. To make matters worse the kittens were clearly underweight, dirty and there homes smelled of urine and feces. Needless to say, finding a qualified breeder was difficult. Several months later I was able to find what I was looking for and all was well in our home.
Several years later...
After much thought, research, tears, effort, time, money and a very selective process of choosing breeders.... I made the commitment to breed Sphynx and as of recent the Bambino and Elf breed. There have been many, many, many trying moments. Moments when you think about how much dedication breeding takes.....but I really can't imagine my life without them. It is important to understand that this is not my career ( I am employed) this is my hobby. I breed because I have grown to love these naked babies, their unique beauty, outstanding personality, their intelligence and mischievous tendencies. They just warm my heart with just one look, they have the ability to make everything better. It is my endeavor to provide my amazing experience with other families. Each and every cat/kitten in Purrbastet Sphynx, Bambino, & Elf is loved and cherished. They are the first thing I see every morning (apart from my husband of course!), their beady eyes looking at me as they meow and meow and race me to their feeding bowls. They make every moment of my life enjoyable. Some of my closest relatives would say they are the sole topic of most of my conversations, lol.
